>Kraton of Yogyakarta<,
famous sultan palace, southern middle of tropical Java;
situated ~30 miles S´ of "Mount Everglow" / Gunung Merapi, one of the
Earth´s 10 most active volcanoes. "Yogya" is also regarded a center of true old
Javanese culture.
Yogyakarta Kraton family: headed by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X,
coronation 7 MAR 1989, married
with G.Kanjeng Ratu Hemas. The Sultan studied in USA, plays a dominant role in
Indonesian society, and in 1996 became Governor of "D.I.Y.", the Special
Territory of Yogyakarta, one out of 3 special territories among all national
provinces constituting the Republic of Indonesia (
>13.000 tropical islands; population: >200 mio ).
Geology :
scientific term "Craton" (German: Kraton) = "continental nucleus", meaning: (old or eldest)
stable parts of the continental crust, without folding, earthquakes, or active volcanoes;
1933 introduced by Hans Stille (German geologist) in US during a
geoscientifical conference about ´Tectonical Relations Between the American and
the European Continent´. 'Kraton´ was a derivation of the former geological term
"Kratogen" (by Kober , Austrian geologist, nineteenth century).
